Checking Your Singapore Work Pass Application Status: MOM, ICA and Where Each Pass Is Tracked

MOM tracks work pass status on one portal and ICA tracks PR on MyICA; MOM says EP and S Pass applications are processed or updated within 10 business days.

MOM tracks work passes. ICA tracks permanent residence and citizenship. Each agency publishes its own status pages, and the page you use depends on which pass or application you filed.

MOM’s Check work pass and application status eService is available 24 hours. It covers every work pass and long-term pass MOM issues. ICA routes permanent residence, citizenship and related matters through its Check Status/Make Appointment page and MyICA.

The split follows the applicant. Work pass applications are filed by an employer or an appointed employment agent. Most permanent residence applications are filed by the individual or by a sponsor using Singpass.

Which agency tracks which application

Start by identifying the agency that owns your application. That single decision determines which portal, which login and which waiting time applies to you.

MOM states that this eService replaces the enquiry functions on Work Permit Online (WPOL) and the Check Work Pass Status eService. Older enquiry routes on those two systems no longer serve this purpose.

ICA’s status page lists further categories, including passport, identity card and birth or death extract. Those are outside the scope of this site.

How to check a work pass application on the MOM portal

The MOM portal takes two identifiers. You supply them in a fixed order.

  1. Go to Check work pass and application status.
  2. Enter your date of birth.
  3. Enter your FIN, or your passport number (travel document number).
  4. Read the status shown on screen.

MOM says you will be able to view the status of work pass applications made within the last 6 months. The same portal shows pass validity, not only application progress.

New applicants without an in-principle approval (IPA) or FIN can still check. Enter your date of birth and passport number (travel document number) instead.

Alternatively, ask your employer or employment agent for your IPA Letter. MOM states that the letter contains your FIN.

What the MOM portal shows, and what it does not

Coverage is broad. MOM states you can check the application status and pass validity for all work passes and long-term passes issued by MOM, naming Dependant’s Pass, Long-Term Visit Pass, Training Employment Pass, Letter of Consent, EntrePass and Work Permit.

The portal has a time limit. MOM states it will not show the status of an application or a work pass that was cancelled or expired more than 6 months ago.

Salary information is limited. MOM says this information is only available to Work Permit holders, who must enter the Date of Application (DOA) found on their IPA.

You can check two records at once. If you hold a work pass and have applied for employment with another employer, MOM confirms you can enquire about both the current pass and the new application.

The portal is available in 5 languages: English, Bengali, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. Results can be saved as a PDF and printed, and MOM stamps the date and time of enquiry on the document.

Landlords, property agents representing a landlord and commercial service providers can also use it. MOM adds that they can scan the QR code on a pass holder’s digital work pass or card using the SGWorkPass app.

Employment Pass: when to check and what to expect

Timing depends on how the application was filed. MOM gives a different figure for each route.

RouteProcessing time stated by MOMWhen to check status
Online, Singapore-registered companyProcessed or given an update within 10 business daysAfter 10 business days
Overseas company without a Singapore-registered companyWithin 6 weeks for most casesAfter 6 weeks

MOM warns that processing may take longer than 10 working days if additional information or documents are required. For the sponsorship route, it may take longer than 6 weeks.

Employers submit documents through EP eService. The path MOM gives is: click ‘Work Passes’ on the left menu, choose the application record, then select ‘Submit documents’. Selecting ‘View details’ shows the action required.

Fees are stated per stage. The application fee is S$105. Getting the pass issued costs S$225 for each pass, plus S$30 for each Multiple Journey Visa where applicable.

The pass must be issued within 6 months of in-principle approval. When issued, MOM emails a notification letter valid for 1 month from the date of issue.

Card registration follows a fixed window. If required, the candidate registers fingerprints and photo within 2 weeks after the pass is issued, at the Employment Pass Services Centre (EPSC).

The card is delivered within 5 working days after fingerprint and photo registration, or after document verification. After 2 unsuccessful deliveries, the candidate or an authorised person can collect the card at EPSC after 3 working days.

S Pass: when to check and what to expect

The S Pass uses the same submission system and the same headline timeframe. MOM states applications are processed or given an update within 10 business days when submitted online.

MOM says you may check your application status online after 10 business days. If additional information or documents are required, processing may take longer than 10 working days.

Several conditions sit on the employer before submission. MOM requires the job opening to be advertised on MyCareersFuture and all candidates to be considered fairly.

The company must have an account with the Central Provident Fund Board for calculating its S Pass quota. A first-time S Pass applicant must also declare its business activity.

Passport validity constrains the pass. MOM states the candidate’s passport must be valid for at least 7 months, and the S Pass duration granted will only be up to 1 month before the passport expiry date.

Fees differ from the Employment Pass at the issue stage. The application fee is S$105. Getting the pass issued costs S$100 for each pass.

The IPA sets the entry clock. MOM describes it as a pre-approved single-entry visa that gives the candidate 60 days to enter Singapore and get the pass issued, and states whether a medical examination is required after arrival.

The pass must be issued within 60 days of in-principle approval. Where fingerprints and photo are required, the candidate registers within 1 week after the pass is issued, at MOM Services Centre – Hall C.

Dependant’s Pass: the route decides the waiting time

Who files the application depends on the main pass. That is the first thing to establish.

Main pass holderWho appliesProcessing time stated by MOM
Employment Pass or S PassEmployer or appointed employment agent of the main pass holderWithin 3 weeks for most cases
Personalised Employment Pass or EntrePassThe main pass holderWithin 6 weeks for most cases
Employment Pass (Sponsorship)Your local sponsorWithin 6 weeks for most cases

Status checks follow the same split. For applications submitted through EP eService, MOM says you may check your application status after 3 weeks.

For the other routes described on the same page, MOM says you may check your application status after 1 week. In those cases MOM emails you for additional documents, and processing may take longer than 6 weeks.

Fees are S$105 for each application, S$225 for each pass issued, and S$30 for each Multiple Journey Visa where applicable.

The IPA is a pre-approved single-entry visa. Its validity depends on the main pass: 6 months for a dependant of an Employment Pass holder, and 2 months for a dependant of an S Pass holder.

Issuance windows follow the same pattern. MOM states the pass must be issued within 6 months of IPA for dependants of Employment Pass holders, and within 2 months of IPA for dependants of S Pass holders.

Registration windows differ too. Dependants of Employment Pass holders register at EPSC within 2 weeks after the pass is issued. Dependants of S Pass holders register at MOM Services Centre – Hall C within 1 week.

Employers: myMOM Portal and EP eService

Employers have a second view. myMOM Portal is available 24 hours and shows at-a-glance information on your workforce and work pass holders.

MOM lists these employer functions: view lists of new and existing pass holders, see each applicant’s pass status and relevant next steps, and filter work pass records by pass type or date range.

Access is gated. You need Corppass, and to view work pass information you must have an existing EP eService or WP Online account.

  1. Apply for Corppass if you do not have one.
  2. Ask your Corppass admin or sub-admin to assign myMOM Portal under the eService Access tab.
  3. Register for an EP eService or WP Online account through Work Pass Account Registration (WPAR).
  4. Ask the EP eService or WP Online administrator to grant you access.

MOM states the WPAR sign-up application is processed within 1 week, and may take longer if more documents are needed. Requests to appoint or change administrators and users are also processed within 1 week.

Administration limits are fixed. During registration you appoint an EP eService or WP Online administrator; you can appoint up to 2 administrators, and the administrator can create up to 4 user accounts.

One caveat applies to workforce data. MOM says local workforce information is based on the latest available aggregated data and there may be a time delay of about 3 months as the data is compiled and processed.

After issue: SGWorkPass, the card and Singpass

Once a pass is issued, the digital pass becomes the fastest check. SGWorkPass is available for iOS, Android and Huawei HarmonyOS.

Set-up happens on the day of card registration. MOM’s sequence is: download SGWorkPass, log in with Singpass, then view the digital work pass and employment information.

The app lets holders view their latest work pass details without scanning the QR code on the physical card. It also lets them verify validity, receive notifications from MOM and change language settings.

SGWorkPass is available in Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Bengali, Burmese, English, Mandarin, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese. Work Permit holders can also view monthly salary information and employment history from Jan 2017 onwards.

MOM explains one status explicitly. If your work pass is shown as ‘Invalid’, it means the pass has been cancelled or is expired and you can no longer continue working; ask your employer to log into WP Online or EP eService to check and rectify the cause.

Singpass is the key to all of this. MOM states work pass holders can obtain a Singpass by applying online at the Singpass website or by visiting any of the Singpass counters located islandwide in person.

ICA’s Check Status/Make Appointment page is the entry point for ICA applications. It lists permanent residence, Singapore citizenship, long-term visit pass, re-entry permit and entry visa among its status categories.

Login rules changed by date. ICA states you can log in using MyICA to check citizenship, PR and LTVP applications submitted from 26 Jun 2024 onwards, and PMLA applications submitted from 27 Oct 2025 onwards.

Older applications are handled differently. ICA says you may also enquire through its enquiry option to check the status of applications, including those not submitted via the e-Services.

Some services require the applicant personally. ICA lists mandatory Singpass login with no proxy enquiries for passport, identity card, APEC Travel Card, change of address, replacement of address sticker, and re-entry permit.

Permanent residence fees, processing time and National Service liability

ICA publishes the Becoming a Permanent Resident page with fees, timing and conditions. All figures below come from that page.

StageFee stated by ICA
At submissionS$100 for each application
At completion of formalitiesS$20 for Entry Permit
At completion of formalitiesS$50 for a 5-year Re-Entry Permit
At completion of formalitiesS$50 for Singapore Identity Card

ICA states all fees are non-refundable. Payment is made online using Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, American Express credit card, Internet Direct Debit, or PayNow.

Processing time is stated as within 6 months. ICA qualifies this: applications are processed within 6 months provided all the required documents are submitted and are in order, and some applications may take longer.

ICA informs applicants of the outcome by email or post for applications submitted before 26 June 2024. You may also check PR application status online at MyICA or the e-Service.

Singpass is a prerequisite for most routes. ICA notes that approval for a Singpass account application may take 2 to 5 working days and recommends starting an application only after all applicants have registered.

Male applicants carry National Service liability under the Enlistment Act 1970. ICA states male applicants granted PR as a foreign student or under their parents’ sponsorship are liable, must register for National Service upon reaching 16 and a half years old, and will be scheduled for enlistment at the earliest opportunity upon reaching 18 years old.

ICA also records the penalty for default: a fine not exceeding S$10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or both. Further enquiries go to the Central Manpower Base on 1800-3676767 (local) or 65-65676767 (overseas).

ICA states it has no affiliation with any external migration agency or commercial entity claiming to be a Singapore immigration specialist, consultant or partner. It does not support or endorse services by self-proclaimed professional immigration consultancy service providers for permanent residence applications.

When the status check goes wrong

Most failures are identifier problems. MOM explains the error “Multiple results are found. Use FIN instead. If you do not have a FIN, find out from your employer or agent” as meaning the passport number is linked to more than 1 FIN.

The fix is to supply a unique FIN. MOM advises asking your employer or employment agent for the FIN, which appears on your IPA letter.

Mismatches need action before travel. If employment details such as salary or occupation on the portal differ from what you were offered, MOM says to contact your employer or employment agent before coming to Singapore, and that you may reject the offer.

Errors in employment details such as occupation, salary or name of employer should be corrected by the employer or employment agent through MOM’s systems. MOM adds that new applicants should make sure information is correct before leaving their home country or region.

Missing cards have a standard check. MOM advises checking whether you uploaded the correct documents if the card does not arrive within 5 working days, and notes that card delivery details can also be checked.

Never move money because of a status call or email. MOM states its officers will never ask you to transfer money or disclose bank log-in details over a phone call or email, and directs anyone unsure about a possible scam to the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline on 1799.
