About Pass & Permit Desk

An editorial brief on Singapore work passes and permanent residence, written for readers who want the rules, not a sales pitch.

Editorial approach

Every brief starts from a primary source: MOM guidelines and Compass documents, ICA e-Service notices, MAS notices, the Income Tax Act, parliamentary replies and Gazette amendments. We give the year and effective date of each rule rather than vague phrases like "recent tightening".

Who we write for

Applicants and employers who want to read the Compass framework and run the EP, S Pass, PR and GIP processes themselves. Many of our readers come from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and India, and often start at a disadvantage on Compass diversity points, so we focus on the variables that can be improved within the rules.

Our position

We are not licensed immigration agents or lawyers. Pages are research notes and should not replace advice from a registered employment agency or law firm where the stakes warrant it. We do not take commercial placements or process applications on anyone's behalf.

Terminology

Official terms (Compass, ICA, MOM, IPA, FIN, SingPass, EP, S Pass, Tech.Pass, ONE Pass, GIP, LTVP+) are kept in English. Where wording is ambiguous, the English official text governs.
